KAYAKING
Moving under your own steam through crystal clear alpine lakes or travelling down beautiful blue-green rivers makes kayaking in Bavaria one of the most rewarding activities this region has to offer.
From our Lodge in the Bavarian Alps we have access to some of the best waterways in Southern Germany. Whether you want to hear the roar of the white water under your hull or glide effortlessly across the mirror-like waters of the lakes, we have something to suit all abilities.
Our highly qualified and experienced instructors will assess your abilities in the still waters of the local lakes, allowing you to gain full control of your boat and paddle before progressing onto moving water and mastering a range of kayaking skills.
If you are lucky enough to have already experienced Kayaking and are looking to improve on your technical skills or just wanting to enjoy the stunning waters and mountain views, we will endeavor to accommodate all your requirements.
This exciting activity is an incredible way to build strength and fitness, work on your balance, and challenge yourself in a stunning environment.

TREKKING
The trails and tracks leading immediately out from our Lodge in the Bavarian Alps, will take you into some of the most beautiful scenery you can image. Through scented pine forests, rolling grassy Alpine meadows, and majestic mountains, trekking through this land allows you to take stock of your surroundings and soak in the stunning picture postcard views that this much overlooked area of Bavaria offers.
From exhilarating mountain trekking to more serene strolls through the valley, the Allgau area, home to The Carnegie Alpenrose and MyPeakPotential, is the perfect place to embark on a fantastic activity that may become a new addiction or to simply explore a little known corner of the earth.
You will learn how to navigate, overcome obstacles, undertstand the weather and ultimately take care of yourself. Our guides and instructors have trained in these mountains for many years and know them well so you will be in the most knowledgable and safest of hands.

SNOW-SHOEING
The Bavarian Alps are truly beautiful under the blanket of a winter wonderland.
Snow-shoeing is the perfect way to access this magical landscape and it is suitable for all ages and abilities. It is said, if you can walk you can snow-shoe, and once you have mastered the technique you will have access to the most beautiful picture postcard scene you can imagine. It's a perfect way to avoid the crowded pistes of the ski areas but still enjoy the snow.
The sport of snow-shoeing has emerged over thousands of years as a very necessary mode of transport for those living and working in heavy snow. The metal and plastic base is strapped over regular footwear, distributing your weight over a larger surface area to prevent each foot sinking in too far, and allowing you an easier path through soft deep snow.
You will use snowshoeing to gain access to the mountains for a variety of other exciting courses such as backcountry skills and sledding. You will be taken on a short hike to get used to levelling your balance over the shoes and you will use sticks to help you. After the initial lessons you will progress onto guided walks through the foothills and then on into the mountains.
Snow-shoeing is a very effective method of improving fitness, balance and coordination; toning muscle and it provides a fantastic way to enjoy the mountains in all their snow-ladened glory.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
For mountain biking Bavaria is the best kept secret in the Alps, with literally hundreds of miles of biking tracks for you to explore and enjoy. These amazing tracks lead right from our doorstep, making our Lodge, the Carnegie Alpenrose, the perfect base to begin your adventure.
With both short, breathtaking routes and longer more challenging single tracks the Bavarian Alps provide a great variety of terrain to suit all levels and the majority of riding will be direct from the Carnegie Alpenrose through the foothills and into the mountains, providing trails that will both excite and challenge you. In addition to these, there are several downhill parks as well as specially designed terrain with technical obstacles and skills parks, all within driving distance.
Many of the ski lifts are open in the summer months too, giving all abilities access to the top of the mountains. Enabling you to cover many miles of alpine terrain and ultimately the thrill of the ride down!
Bikes and helmets are provided, but if you want to experience the thrill of the serious downhill parks then you will need to hire full suspension bikes and protective gear by prior arrangement.

KLETTERSTEIG
Klettersteig also known as Via Ferrata is a form of climbing, using permanently fixed ropes, bridges and ladders. The first routes, built in Italy, were used to aid the movement of mountain infantry in the First World War, but it has now become established as a very popular way to enjoy the mountains.
This very safe but exhilarating sport is an amazing way to see the mountains from a viewpoint that would normally be inaccessible to all but the most accomplished mountaineers. Clipped onto the ropes and secured by your harness, you are totally safe and able to enjoy the stunning views and the experience of climbing higher than you ever imagined.
There are several Klettersteig routes in the Bavarian Alps and we are lucky enough to have some of the best within a short distance from our base near Sonthofen.

PT CORPS STYLE WORKOUTS
With the current trend of Military style Boot Camp workouts we have developed a set of exercises based on those used by the Army's Physical Training Corps. These exercises have been designed to burn fat, tone up muscle and ultimately shed unwanted pounds. As part of the Alp Fit courses at The Carnegie Alpenrose, PT Corps style workouts will enable you to perfect a routine set of circuit based exercises that you can take home with you.
The circuits are easy to learn, using objects and obstacles that you can substitute easily, anywhere. We aim to carry out most sessions in the fresh air whatever the weather. However, we will utilise our spacious fitness centre for specific elements of the course.
Designed by our very own ex PT Corps Warrant Officer each session will be challenging and exciting. Your heart rate will be raised to it's optimum level for fat burning and a series of specially designed exercises will focus on your target areas. Individual interviews will be held at the beginning of your course in order for us to get the best results for you from these sessions.
All levels of fitness are catered for so there are no excuses! This is a very effective method of improving fitness, mobility, strength and stamina so whatever the results you are looking for we are positive you will start to feel and see the results immediately. Taking away a new and improved outlook on physical training.
