Klettersteig
Klettersteig also known as Via Ferrata is a form of climbing, using permanently fixed ropes, bridges and ladders. The first routes, built in Italy, were used to aid the movement of mountain infantry in the First World War, but it has now become established as a very popular way to enjoy the mountains.
This very safe but exhilarating sport is an amazing way to see the mountains from a viewpoint that would normally be inaccessible to all but the most accomplished mountaineers. Clipped onto the ropes and secured by your harness, you are totally safe and able to enjoy the stunning views and the experience of climbing higher than you ever imagined.
There are several Klettersteig routes in the Bavarian Alps and we are lucky enough to have some of the best within a short distance from our base near Sonthofen.
During your course you will be introduced to Klettersteig first by becoming familiar with the equipment used and how to manage yourself safely once on the mountain. This sport lends itself perfectly to improving overall fitness levels, and is superb for teambuilding and leadership training.
It is an activity that all levels, ages and personalities will enjoy and reap many rewards from.
This course runs for five days and includes all instruction and guiding, all Klettersteig equipment and full board en-suite accommodation at our Bavarian Lodge, The Carnegie Alpenrose, please see Accommodation for details
