Dave Bunting MBE

Dave Bunting is the Director of Training at My Peak Potential and was the brains and overall leader for the British Army Everest West Ridge 2006 expedition. His background as an adventurous training specialist for the military has provided him with extensive and varied roles in leadership and management. This experience coupled with his passion for mountaineering has given him many opportunities to plan and lead numerous expeditions worldwide.

Dave is also a key trainer at My Peak Potential’s Alpine Training Centre in Bavaria. As partners of Leeds Met University My Peak Potential are the facilitators of the experiential residential modules on their new MSc in Leadership; personal and professional development.

Everest West Ridge Presentation

In 2006 Dave led a team of elite climbers on a groundbreaking expedition to become the first British team to climb the formidable West Ridge of Mount Everest. As expedition leader Dave headed up the planning, team selection and preparation as well as being a strong member of the climbing team himself. This highly publicised expedition earned Dave an MBE for his outstanding leadership and was filmed for the recently televised documentary Everest: Man v. Mountain.

His inspirational presentation of his experiences planning, leading the expedition and climbing on Everest’s West Ridge is a riveting and awe-inspiring account of the determination and doggedness necessary to pull together and then carry out such a huge and complicated Expedition. With three teams of climbers heading off to Nepal, including a team of 16 year old Army recruits, he paints an extraordinary picture of teamwork, leadership, friendship and adventure that will leave you inspired, moved and entertained. With stunning images from the rarely seen vantage point of the West Ridge of Mount Everest, it is a presentation that will leave a lasting impression.

Dave has been on the speakers’ circuit now for 3 years and has spoken to audiences of up to 1500 people including the opening presentation at The Outdoor Show 2008 at the NEC Birmingham. He has delivered to a variety of audiences including primary school children, senior managers, Consultant Surgeons, outdoor enthusiasts and fellow mountaineers and at each and every venue Dave remains relevant and engaging.
